Lighthouse Young Writers range from 10 to 18 years of age. They write poetry, fiction, nonfiction, prose poetry, personal narrative, lyric essays, memoirs, novellas, novels, epics, mysteries, fantasies, and, well, anything they can think of. This is where we show them off.

The Lighthouse Writers Workshop Young Writers Program offers weekend workshops in a sweet ol’ house with slanted floors and book-filled nooks and crannies in the historic Five Points neighborhood of Denver and sends published writers into local schools. In both our in-house programs and our school programs, there are no grades or wrong answers–there is just the story.

Workshops are limited to ten students, which allows for plenty of individual attention and helps members feel comfortable exploring their own writing. Our hope is that students leave the workshops with more trust in their voice, confidence in their language, and happy anticipation about the stories they have yet to write.

For more information on any of our young writers programs, please contact Youth Program Director Meg Nix at meg(at)lighthousewriters.org.

The Art of Being Popular really is true. It is written exactly like real life.
